Edgar Mukamagaaba is an Associate in the firm’s Insolvency & Debt Recovery practice. His work centres on debt recovery, enforcement and corporate insolvency, acting for banks, insurers, manufacturers, healthcare providers and other commercial creditors in the realisation of distressed and defaulting obligations. He handles both contentious and non-contentious recovery matters involving secured and unsecured debts, across sectors including financial services, logistics, telecommunications, healthcare, manufacturing and insurance.

He works closely with the firm’s Dispute Resolution and Banking & Finance practice groups to deliver seamless service to clients, pairing courtroom advocacy and precise litigation drafting with the commercial discipline that effective recovery work demands, from demand and negotiation through litigation and enforcement, alongside debt-restructuring matters.

Mukamagaaba holds a Bachelor of Laws from  Makerere University,  a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, a Diploma in Tax and Revenue Administration at the East African School of Tax and a UNITAR certificate in Carbon Taxation and a certificate in Migration Law from the Université catholique de Louvain. Mukamagaaba is also pursuing studies in cybersecurity through HarvardX, sharpening his grasp of the fiscal, cross-border and digital-evidence questions that increasingly arise in modern enforcement and insolvency work.

He has been part of teams handling substantial debt recovery, enforcement and insolvency matters for leading banks, manufacturers and commercial creditors, including disputes resolved by consent judgment and ongoing contested litigation, with claim values ranging from significant foreign-currency recoveries to matters in excess of UGX 10 billion, spanning the banking, manufacturing, education and development-finance sectors.
